Your *must have* negative Google Ad keywords for Water Damage

Last week I shared with you 3 of the worst keywords you could target with your Google Ad campaign. The week before the 5 best keywords.


Today let’s look at a few of the negative keywords you absolutely must have in your campaign.


     What’s a negative keyword? 


Its search terms somebody might use that clearly is not looking for you, however it has words that would be part of valuable keywords you bid on.


     A classic example is cell phones.


Somebody searches for iphone water damage repair. 


Obviously that’s not your customer, but it does have that very valuable keyword water damage repair in it.


So you would add “iPhone” to your negative keyword list and Google will never include somebody who has iPhone in their search term.


You would then add all of the major brands and types of cell phones, like Samsung, Android, etc.


What are a few of the other big groups of negative keywords?


  • Appliances – both types like refrigerator and also brands like LG and Frigidaire.
  • Computers
  • Cars
  • Musical Instruments


And also somebody whose IP address is in your target area but they are actually looking for a company in another city or state.  That means adding every state and major city other than your own.


And your negative keyword list is ALWAYS growing. 


A fundamental daily task is looking at searches that took place in your campaign and adding any that should be in your negative keyword list but you never thought of.
